structure of the CMMI. Section 2 includes Chapters 5 through 8. These chapters
provide an overview of the Process Areas, arranged according to the structure of the
Staged Representation of the CMMI. Section 3 includes Chapters 9 through 15.
Chapters 9 through 15 go more into the process improvement area and offer some
of our suggestions and hints on how to apply the concepts proposed in the CMMI
to your organization. These chapters display tables, templates, and charts that may
prove applicable in your improvement efforts. Section 4 consists of Chapters 16
through 19. These chapters address measurement issues, from basic metrics to collect
as part of normal CMMI implementation, to statistical process control and
high maturity concerns. Section 5 is about appraisals and consists of Chapters 20
through 22. This section contains chapters on SCAMPISM appraisal types, the steps
in the most formal appraisal (SCAMPI A), and required SCAMPI documentation
(PIIDs). Section 6 is our wrap-up section.
