"Interpreting the CMMI: A Process Improvement Approach, Second Edition"

Although most folks generally say, ???the data
is not yet available,??? proper grammar is to say, ???the data are not yet available.??? So it
may sound a little funny when you read it.
History of the CMMi
Here is a very short history of the CMMI. Short because most readers of this book
will already know this and because other sources can give you much more detail
on the story.
People were successfully using the Capability Maturity Model, which was
designed for improving software processes and measuring the maturity of software
processes in an organization. This success brought more and more attention
to model-based process improvement in other areas. This resulted in a number of
other models being developed, including the:
Systems Engineering CMM (SE-CMM)
Software Acquisition Capability Maturity Model (SA-CMM)
Integrated Product Development Team Model (IPD-CMM)
Systems Engineering Capability Assessment Model (SECAM)
Systems Engineering Capability Model (SECM)
