Guidelines for declaring a process area as ???not applicable??? were clarified.
SAM is the only process area that can be considered ???not applicable.???
The overview and glossary were changed. New definitions were added to the
glossary, with some older definitions either reworded or deleted.
Integrated Product and Process Development (IPPD) material was simplified
and consolidated. IPPD is considered an ???addition,??? not reflected as separate
process areas. The process areas Organizational Environment for Integration
and Integrated Teaming were removed. IPPD concepts, (such as work environment
material), were added to Organizational Process Definition (OPD)
and Integrated Project Management (IPM).
Material was added to ensure that standard processes are deployed to new
projects at their startup (see IPM and Organizational Process Focus).
The changes to the specific practices and material in the individual process
areas have been incorporated into our discussions of the different maturity levels
later in this book.
