Some of the steps involved in BPR are:
1. Establish a reengineering team
2. Analyze the organization??™s culture for health and tolerance for change
3. Identify core processes to determine criticality and ???pain points???
4. Document the process using block diagrams and flowcharts
5. Analyze the direction of the business regarding its mission, vision, values,
goals, and objectives for discrepancies
6. Invent a new process by pretending that the organization has been destroyed
and no longer exists
7. Deploy the ???best??? solution (through piloting and evaluation)
Benchmarking involves finding and implementing best practices that lead to
superior performance. The best practices usually come from another part of your
organization or a completely different external business. For example, there is a
benchmarking study that was done by a defense contractor who benchmarked his
distribution system against that of a cosmetics company.
