"Interpreting the CMMI: A Process Improvement Approach, Second Edition"

The continuous representation does have generic goals because the continuous representation
allows the selection of various process areas. So, your organization may
decide not to select the process areas in Maturity Level 4. If you do that, yet want
to implement quantitative measures for selected areas, then the generic goals of the
continuous representation have been added to ensure that the basic concepts of
statistical control and its application will be met.

Chapter 5
understanding Maturity
le el 2: Managed
This chapter is designed to help the reader understand the basic tenets of Maturity
Level 2 in the staged representation of the CMMI. However, because this chapter
consists of summaries of the process areas, anyone wishing to get a better idea of
the model, no matter which representation is to be used, can benefit from this
chapter. Once again, we are not attempting to teach the CMMI. We simply offer a
condensed version of the various areas and key points to consider.
Two new concepts are introduced in Level 2 in CMMI.
