The wording of the Purpose statement has changed slightly. The new wording
emphasizes that improvements to processes will be planned and incorporated
into the organization based on an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses
of organizational assets, discovered through a structured appraisal process. This
wording basically tells the reader how to perform this process area; that is, that you
must plan the activities and must understand what your strengths and weaknesses
are.
