"Interpreting the CMMI: A Process Improvement Approach, Second Edition"

The measurement repository is used
for generating achievable estimates, based on past performance. The repository of
project and organizational information discussed in this PA becomes the basis of
the performance baselines at Level 4.
Risk is not really discussed much here, at least not as much as in the CMM
for Software. This PA offers guidance as to when incorporate risk strategies and
planning into project management, but the real details are included in the Risk
Management process area.
SG1 Use the Project??™s Defined Process makes this process a required element.
Previous definitions of process in the CMMI were simply informative or expected
as part of the OSSP.
IPPD focuses on establishing and using a shared vision of what the project is to
accomplish by way of using the IPPD team structure (Integrated Product Teams
[IPTs]). The tips contained in the margins contain information on team interactions
and why the practice was included in the PA.
Things that most organizations tend to forget about this process area:
The Project??™s Defined Process (PDP).
