"Interpreting the CMMI: A Process Improvement Approach, Second Edition"

This approach
is the same approach we see when trying to select appropriate measures to collect
at Level 2 and in trying to write effective process documentation when
beginning the process improvement effort.
Nobody really understands the models that are built (except maybe the guy
who built them).
The models aren??™t really used to make decisions.
The generic practices that map directly to this process area are GP 4.1 Establish
Quantitative Objectives for the Process and GP 4.2 Stabilize Subprocess
Performance.
Organizational Process Performance includes deciding which processes to
include as part of statistical performance analyses; defining metrics to use as part
of the process performance analyses; defining quantitative objectives for quality
and process performance (quality and process ???by the numbers???); and generating
process performance baselines and models.
Quantitative Project Management
The purpose of Quantitative Project Management (QPM) is to quantitatively manage
the project??™s defined process to achieve the project??™s established quality and
process??“performance objectives.
