"Interpreting the CMMI: A Process Improvement Approach, Second Edition"

These tasks are really steps in the
appraisal and are called processes. These processes are completed prior to conducting
the onsite phase of the appraisal. These appraisal tasks (or processes) include:
Analyze Requirements
Develop the Appraisal Plan
Select and Prepare the Team
Obtain and Inventory Initial Objective Evidence
Prepare for Appraisal Conduct
Table 21.1 lists the formal processes and activities of this phase as shown in the
MDD.
Analyze Requirements Process
The SCAMPI A involves the appraisal sponsor from the organization to be appraised
in order to determine his objectives and business goals. Why is this appraisal being
done? Does he want a level rating or not? Will the rating be used for a contract
award? Answers to these questions and others form the information that the MDD
calls the Appraisal Input. The Appraisal Input is required at both the beginning
and the end of the appraisal. The Appraisal Input is the basis for detailed planning
for the appraisal. The Appraisal Input may be generated incrementally throughout
the planning phase; however, a completed baseline version must be approved prior
to the start of data collection.
