"Interpreting the CMMI: A Process Improvement Approach, Second Edition"

What other issues should be considered when selecting team members? Each
team member should have experience in the areas he will investigate (such as project
planning or requirements development), and should have been doing this type of
work ???for a while.??? What this means is, do not assign a member of your organization
to this team if he is directly out of college or is not considered an experienced
member of the organization or is just someone who is failing on his project, so
you want to get rid of him for a while and make him someone else??™s problem. This
assignment of incorrect people to an Appraisal Team is also used when lower-level,
dysfunctional organizations know they will not ???pass??? the SCAMPI A, so they try
to assign incompetent staff to the team. That way, the organization??™s leaders can discredit
the findings. Also, do not assign spies to the team. If any team member relays
any information to nonteam members, either during or after the SCAMPI A, the
results of the SCAMPI A are nullified, and the organization still must pay the bill.
