"Interpreting the CMMI: A Process Improvement Approach, Second Edition"

Obtain and Inventory Initial Objective Evidence Process
Based on the fundamental assumption that an executed process will produce artifacts
(both intermediate work products and end products), the organization and the
Appraisal Team will identify specific products available from each focus project and
from the organization as a whole. Prior to arriving onsite, the Lead Appraiser distributes
a package to the organization??™s technical point of contact (POC) requesting
information needed for the SCAMPI A. This information usually includes:
An organization questionnaire documenting the general characteristics of the
organization
PIIDs to be completed
In some cases, the organization will have its own format for PIIDs. If so, it is
critical that the Lead Appraiser approve the format early in the planning phase to
avoid rework. The Appraisal Team will ensure that all of the information requested
from the organization has been provided in the proper format.
Prepare for Appraisal Conduct Process
The SCAMPI A method has incorporated an activity into its offi cial methodology
that the authors of this book consider to be a great idea.
