"Interpreting the CMMI: A Process Improvement Approach, Second Edition"

The first documentation reviewed is the documentation listed
in the PIIDs. However, if more documentation is needed, that documentation may
be requested before, during, or after an interview by the Appraisal Team.

310 n Interpreting the CMMI
What would an appraisal be without interviews? The purpose of conducting
interviews is to collect data by interviewing managers and project members
of the selected projects to verify that the processes are followed as documented.
The Appraisal Team conducts interviews by individuals, functional groups, project
teams, project managers, or by process area. Interviews with project managers are
usually conducted with the project manager interviewed by the entire Appraisal
Team. Project members (other than the project manager) are usually interviewed
as part of a group. However, individual interviews may be conducted for specific,
detailed information, as needed. Each Appraisal Team Member may ask questions,
or one member of the Appraisal Team may be designated to ask the questions.
