What that means is that the
entire team must agree on the intent of the finding and the wording of the finding.
There must be no strong disagreement. If the team has been consolidating data and
discussing objective evidence and findings all along during the appraisal, then this
consensus step is usually not a problem. However, if the team leaves this activity
until the night before the ratings are due there is a big problem.
The Appraisal Team determines the extent to which a CMMI practice has been
performed in an organization. The team begins by determining whether the practices
have been implemented and to what extent they have been implemented at
the lowest level possible, called the instantiation level (at the project or support
group level). Each practice is verified to ensure that corroborated objective evidence
has been found. Remember, the practice we are referring to is the practice??™s
implementation in a focus project or support group. Each practice is characterized
as Fully Implemented (FI), Largely Implemented (LI), Partially Implemented (PI),
Not Implemented (NI), or Not Yet (NY, as in Not Yet Implemented) according to
the rules in Table 21.
