"Interpreting the CMMI: A Process Improvement Approach, Second Edition"

(NOTE:
If literally all projects and support groups in an organizational unit
have not reached the stage in the life cycle to have implemented the
practice, but will in the future, no rating can be given for the
associated goal and PA.)

So, who should attend these presentations? Only those personnel who participated
in the interviews may attend this preliminary findings presentation. You
must not allow anyone who has not been interviewed to attend, period??”it is a
requirement of the SCAMPI A Method. To ensure this, you need to keep an accurate
record of all the actual interviewees and the project or support group they
represent??”not just the people you invited to interview. It is not required that all
interviewees attend a presentation; however, there must be at least one participant
from each project or support group that provided objective evidence. Why can??™t
just anyone attend? Because they have not been part of the appraisal, they have not
participated in the appraisal, they probably have not attended the informational
presentations given by the organization and by the Appraisal Team, they don??™t
understand the process, they won??™t understand the findings, and they are probably
there as management spies to deliver a heads-up to management about the
level rating and to argue the results.
