An important aspect of the preliminary findings session is that it is both a
data validation and data collection activity. The Appraisal Team is presenting its
draft??”not final??”findings. It is checking to see if it missed something or if it misunderstood
something. This presentation gives the organization one last chance to
deliver any information the Appraisal Team needs.
The standard briefing consists of weaknesses only. This approach optimizes time
limitations and ensures that the majority of the time is spent validating weaknesses
and collecting additional information to validate these weaknesses and potentially
new items. But, by presenting only weaknesses, the organization may get nervous
