As you can see, four of the activities in this process are optional. These four
activities depend upon the rating objectives defined in the appraisal plan and the
CMMI model representation selected (either staged or continuous; see Chapter 4
for the differences between the representations).
The Derive Final Findings and Rate Goals step is not optional and is used with
both the staged and continuous representations. In this step, the Appraisal Team
must:
Derive final findings from the preliminary findings and participant feedback
and/or any other Preliminary Finding Validation Activities (such as focus
groups or surveys).
