"Interpreting the CMMI: A Process Improvement Approach, Second Edition"

Under each example Direct
Artifact and Indirect Artifact column is room for Organizational Evidence, Project
1 Evidence, Project 2 Evidence, up to as many projects as will be part of the
appraisal. You will also see a column for Affi rmation. That is when the Appraisal
Team confirms during an interview that the artifact is implemented as written. The
authors of this book usually do not have the organization fill in this affi rmation
area because the Appraisal Team members have their own spreadsheets to document
interview responses and findings. When the organization fills out the PIIDs,
the organization should just fill in the Direct and Indirect Artifacts portion. Leave
the Affi rmations blank. However, some organizations use this column as a reference
to the person who developed and delivered the PIID for this practice or for a
reference to the person they plan to interview for this practice.
Most organizations set up hotlinks from the document referenced in the PIID
to the actual document itself. This allows the Appraisal Team to easily access and
read the information to determine the degree of implementation in the projects and
in the organization.
