"Interpreting the CMMI: A Process Improvement Approach, Second Edition"

However, those of you reading a chapter on Agile in a book about
the CMMI may be new to the idea of Agile. So, what is Agile all about? There are
344 n Interpreting the CMMI
many names for Agile Methods and many types of Agile Methods. Agile is based
on the tenets of something called the Agile Manifesto. The Agile Manifesto of the
AgileAlliance (www.agilemanifesto.org) states:
We are uncovering better ways of developing software by doing it and
helping others do it. Through this work we have come to value:
Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
Working software over comprehensive documentation
Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
Responding to change over following a plan
That is, while there is value on the items on the right, we value the
items on the left more.
The principles behind the Agile Manifesto are as follows:
1. Our highest priority is to satisfy the customer through early and
continuous delivery of valuable software.
2. Welcome changing requirements, even late in development.
Agile processes harness change for the customer??™s competitive
advantage.
