we believe that some Scrum artifacts may serve as objective evidence during
appraisals. Depending on the Scrum implementation, Product Backlogs might
serve as requirements artifacts, and the Scrum meetings might satisfy some of the

Project Planning and Project Monitoring and Control practices. However, Scrum
may not cover all the things that a project needs to do. Adopting Scrum (or any
other Agile method) does not excuse an organization from following the rules of
the appraisal. Agile adoption also does not allow broad appraisal tailoring decisions
to be made (such as, ???We don??™t do this because we are Agile.???). If you are
using Agile and desire a level rating of some sort, we suggest you choose your Lead
Appraiser with care. Make sure your Lead Appraiser has a lot of experience in the
CMMI approach to process improvement, SCAMPI appraisals, and Agile methods.
Remember, SCAMPI appraisal results are subject to review by outside authorities,
and it is not unreasonable to expect a reversal of ratings.
