"Interpreting the CMMI: A Process Improvement Approach, Second Edition"

A team that was trained by the
Lead Assessor could have been exposed to only the viewpoint and interpretation of
that Lead Assessor. If team members chose to go on and become Lead Assessors,
no matter how many times they had done CBA IPIs and completed the training
for that CBA IPI, they were required to attend the Introduction to the CMM class
conducted by a Software Engineering Institute (SEI)??“authorized vendor before
beginning Lead Assessor training.
For a SCE, the student had to take the Introduction to the CMM from an SEIauthorized
vendor before SCE training. Some of the qualifications for an individual
to get into SCE training were at least:
7 years of increasingly responsible software development experience (spread
out among systems analysis, coding, testing, configuration management,
quality assurance, systems programming, database administration and analysis,
for example)
3 years of project management experience (costing, budgeting, tracking,
scheduling)
2 years of acquisition experience (for federal acquisition/procurement
SCEs only)
The 7-3-2 prerequisites were dropped as mandatory later on.
