While this task may seem simple, you would not
believe the types of presentations we (as the SCAMPI team) have been subjected
to. One in-brief (and remember, it is called a ???brief???) took three hours where the
director of software laboriously told us about the educational accomplishments of
his managers (there were several PhDs) and how much revenue was generated by his
division. We don??™t care. None of that has anything to do with the practices of the
CMMI. So, here are a few items that you might want to consider when asked to
present an overall description of what your organization does and how it does it. All
of this helps an Appraisal Team (and especially, an external Lead Appraiser) understand
the culture of your organization and why you made the process improvement
decisions you made. It may also help the Lead Appraiser develop an accurate
Appraisal Plan.

Who does requirements? Who codes? Who does planning? Who works the
budget? Who does testing? Who plans and monitors acquisition of products and
services? Who does security? What levels are all of these things done on (several
levels of testing, several levels of planning, several levels of security planning
and enforcement)?

overall approach to developing systems? What is the life cycle? Explain the steps in
the life cycle, not just name it.
