The principles of the service life cycle are defined first. They elaborate on the most important
aspects of the life cycle framework, such as strategy, management, funding, ownership, and return
on investment. The foundation elements that shape the life cycle structure are described next in
the section on the Service-Oriented Life Cycle Model Structure. These are the pillars of the life
cycle framework that facilitate service-oriented project timetable management and business and
technological events planning. They are here to assist in formalizing a sound foundation for the
life cycle evolution of the services. Finally, the section on Service-Oriented Life Cycle Disciplines
depicts the involvement of the modeling disciplines (introduced in Chapter 1 and further described
in detail in Chapters 4 through 16) in the service life cycle dynamics and introduces nonmodeling
disciplines that are just as important to the service development process.
