"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

Subsequently, Miller??™s advice should be employed to avoid unpredictable
events in the life cycle strategy. The service??™s design, construction, and architecture should
accommodate behavior alteration features to reduce unstable service execution in production.
For example, if a recession is predicted by market indicators, it should be established as a
service life cycle event in the strategy road map. This way, the right services can be chosen
and invested in for the organization??™s future and better management of the service portfolio.
If the enterprise is in the trading institution, it may be advisable to strengthen commodities
and bond-trading capabilities and divert funding from high-risk investments during recession
periods.
Life Cycle Random Events. Random events, however, are occurrences that may be caused
by work accidents, political unrest, and natural disasters such as earthquakes and major floods
that can affect the overall economy and disrupt commerce. Service life cycles should provide
placeholders for such random circumstances, especially for organizations that conduct business in
high-risk environments such as oil production institutions, pharmaceutical companies, or defense
contractors. Moreover, insurance companies and loan banking institutions can also be affected by
these random events because they may be required to honor insurance claims or provide funding
to assist the affected businesses.
