"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

For instance, a service life cycle can be drastically influenced if a business model abandons
its customer profile concept in favor of the customer household idea. Services that provide
customer profile content may shortly become irrelevant unless service functionality enhancements
are applied.
Exhibit 2.7 illustrates unstaged events that take place during a service-oriented life cycle.
It depicts various random and unpredictable events: merger and acquisition, the lowest trading
volume that has ever occurred during a service life cycle, a terrorist attack, and a recession.

EXHIBIT 2.7 SERVICE-ORIENTED LIFE CYCLE WITH UNSTAGED EVENTS
Accommodating Life Cycle Conditional Events. Unlike the random and unpredictable business
circumstances, conditional events can provide alternative paths for the service life cycle process.
The planned road map should account for events that may or may not take place during a service
life span. This is analogous to decision junctions in a flowchart diagram??”similar to ???if, than,
else??? programming logic. This effect is discussed mainly in the Service-Oriented Life Cycle
Workflows: Introduction section in Chapter 3.
