Run-Time Disciplines
EXHIBIT 2.12 SERVICE LIFE CYCLE RUN-TIME DISCIPLINES
major run-time season disciplines that facilitate the transitioning of services to production and
enable service operation management and monitoring: service life cycle transitioning, service life
cycle management, service life cycle events monitoring and mediation. In addition, these disciplines
are regarded as non-modeling service-oriented disciplines, and yet are recognized as major
milestones in the service-oriented life cycle evolution.
The service run-time disciplines are discussed in the sections that follow.
Service Transitioning Discipline. This discipline offers best practices that can direct operations
experts to accomplish two major production initiatives: service deployment and service integration.
These initiatives should follow design and architectural blueprints devised at the design-time
season.
The service transitioning discipline addresses the migration of services from development
to production domains and also tackles relocation of services from the run-time back to the
design-time season due to new business requirements or redesign, enhancements, adjustments,
and reconstruction activities.
Service Operation Management Discipline.
