"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

Management of services during the service life
cycle run-time season is a challenging task because of its complexity and the erratic nature of
production operations. The involved chores can be diverse and, at times, unwieldy. What are the
major activities of the service operation management discipline? There are three major life cycle
run-time season initiatives that take place during the run-time season. The first is monitoring
that typically includes tracing production environment security and examining the enforcement of
SLAs. The second is configuration and management of enabling platforms and middleware, such
as meta-data repositories, service registries (maintenance of universal description discovery and
integration (UDDI) repositories), and enterprise message busses (ESB). Configuration activities
can also include provisioning activities that grant consumers security permission to gain access
to services. Last is the management of reporting and alerting of production systems.
Event Monitoring and Mediation Discipline. Event monitoring and mediation life cycle discipline
activities monitor service performance, stability, and evaluate relevancy and contribution
during the service life cycle run-time season. There are three major business aspects that can
influence service behaviors: (1) changes of business direction, business models, and business

strategies; (2) business performance fluctuations, such as a revenue surge or even slow markets
during a recession; and (3) major occurring sudden events that can affect service stability and
offerings during the service life cycle run-time season.
