"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

designed, architected, constructed, or successfully deployed and operated in production. So what
should be governed during service life cycles? Governance disciplines affect almost every aspect
of service life cycles, and without a central supervising SOA organization, the alignment and
coordination between business, development, and service operation groups may fail. Thus, SOA
governance processes must accompany all design-time and run-time aspects. Their purpose is
to plan service-oriented projects and carve out efficient strategies, coordinate service life cycle
initiatives (such as conducting project deliverables walkthroughs), and overseeing service integration
and operations in production. Moreover, SOA governance authorities should also devise
SOA organizational best practices, standards, and policies that should be observed during service
life cycle seasons.
Service Portfolio Management Discipline. Portfolio management is one of the most vital disciplines
in the service life cycle because it enables SOA practitioners to assess and analyze service
inventories, identify service reusability opportunities, assist with asset consolidation, and reduce
redundancy in service functionality during design-time and run-time service life cycle seasons.
Service portfolios are akin to inventory management systems in retailing??”it is all about supply
and demand of products.
