A service
workflow is akin to a flowchart diagram that illustrates activities or the progression of completed
tasks in a traditional project plan. But the object-oriented development paradigm requires not
only tracing service transformation activities advocated by various service life cycle disciplines
but also elaborating on their behavioral trends. These may include depiction of unpredictable
business and technological events and even alternate proactive and reactive planning to avoid a
negative impact on business execution.
As discussed in Chapter 2, these behavioral aspects are measured by a service capacity
to honor service-level agreements (SLAs) in the course of unexpected business or technological
