"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

The choices that are made in the life cycle planning process
should reflect predictions and permutations of a problem that may or may not occur.
Exhibit 3.8 depicts the conditional workflow style, in which the home loan service is
presented by three scenarios:
1. In scenario 1, the top arrow illustrates the home loan service route, in which no business
or technology events are encountered. The service presses forward with no effect on its
life cycle.
2. Scenario 2 illustrates a demotion and retirement plan for the home loan service. The
demotion activity takes place once the service comes across a merger and acquisition
(M&A) event. The service then is scheduled to resume its operations in its limited capacity
until the final merger occurs. This scenario also suggests the retirement of the service at
the end of the merger.
3. Scenario 3 recommends retiring the service before the M&A initiative starts.

EXHIBIT 3.8 CONDITIONAL WORKFLOW STYLE
Time-Machine Workflow Style. Imagine that it was possible go back in time and have another
chance to fix things that did not work well in the first place.
