"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

Exhibit 3.12 depicts five iteration opportunities to consider during a service life cycle:
season level, design-time discipline level, run-time discipline level, event level, and life cycle
level. These iteration approaches are discussed in the sections that follow.

EXHIBIT 3.12 SERVICE LIFE CYCLE ITERATION VIEWS
SEASON-LEVEL ITERATION. This iteration scope includes either design-time or run-time discipline
activities. In the design-time season one should iterate on all activities that are affiliated
with service design-time disciplines, such as service strategy, discovery and analysis, design,
architecture, and construction. Likewise, if the plan is to conduct iterations at the run-time season
level, all service life cycle run-time disciplines should be included, such as deployment and service
management. Exhibit 3.13 illustrates this concept. Life cycle season-level iteration is a large
effort that includes many discipline activities. Thus, detailed planning and team coordination are
necessary. Note that this illustration depicts the iterations on both life cycle seasons??”design-time
and real-time. Season-level iteration efforts, however, do not imply that one should iterate on both
season activities.
