"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

SERVICE CONCEPTUALIZATION TOOLBOX
The conceptual service identification process offers six best practices that can assist with identifying
organizational concepts, establishing conceptual services, founding service associations,
and forming service structures (see Exhibit 5.1). They are as follows:
1. Concept attribution. Concept attribution activities??”discussed in Chapter 4??”should
be frequently repeated during the service identification process to perfect the attribution
selection activity and to establish a solid collection of core attributes.
2. Concept classification. The concept classification process facilitates the formation of
conceptual service categories and the establishment of organizational taxonomies. This
categorization method accentuates service dissimilarities and uniqueness.
3. Concept association. This tool assists with identifying the common attributes of conceptual
services, discovering new conceptual services, and facilitating the establishment of
service structures.
