By ???gravity point??? we mean that typically a single centered conceptual service
encapsulates business or technological abstractions of the entire star structure. This is a major
architectural consideration and an important design property that can affect service performance
and consumption rates.
Business Relevancy and Priority. How can the relevancy of conceptual services to an enterprise
be effectively expressed? How can their business significance and priority be expressed? The star
association method enables a methodological manner by which conceptual entities can be visually
positioned based on their relevancy and priority to the business. Services that carry strategic
business or even technological tasks are more valuable to their organization, and thus should be
positioned closer to the star??™s gravity point. They should be granted proper funding and technological
incentives to increase their reusability and consumption rates in production environments.
For example, in Exhibit 5.10, the taxable corporate bond conceptual service is positioned
nearest to the corporate bond conceptual service. This may imply that such an investment is more
