So what
are conceptual service hierarchical clusters? Hierarchical clusters are groups of conceptual services
that are business context??“ and property-related and are derived from tree hierarchies. Each
conceptual service in the cluster correlates to a single node and is arranged in parent/sibling
formations. These clusters are also specialized business entities that can represent segments of
the business, such as an accounting cluster, a mutual fund products cluster, and so on.
Exhibit 5.19 depicts a tree hierarchy with four different encircled clusters, each of which
consists of associated business and property conceptual services. To establish a hierarchical cluster,
simply follow two major steps: First, construct a tree structure, add the root node, and add
the affiliated parent and sibling nodes. Again, make sure that the conceptual services are grouped
according to their business context and attribute associations. Next, encircle the various clusters
that contextually can be further analyzed during the service discovery and analysis process
(Chapters 6, 7, and 8).
