"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

For example, tangible services that already operate in operating
environments can offer immediate remedies to the problems that are being addressed. Conversely,
concepts are in the early stage of their life cycle and will require development to transform them
into concrete solutions. Therefore, it is imperative to identify service readiness and maturity levels
during the typing process before concluding with the final solution strategy of devising realistic
timeframes for the organization.
Abstraction Type. Abstractions are organizational propositions and intangible assets that intrinsically
introduce enterprise concepts. These artifacts constitute analysis material that is now subject
to further inspection and study. For example, retirement savings, SEP account, or executive retirement
benefits are product concepts that an organization may be considering pursuing. There are
two major types of business or technical abstractions that should be incorporated into the analysis
process: ideas and processes. Pure ideas are generally entities that articulate a solution or an
organizational concept. They can be introduced by documented descriptions of products, product
specifications, business requirements that depict proposed solutions, or technical specifications.
Ideas may also be found in problem domain documents, risk mitigation analysis, and business
and technology strategy documents.
