The following example identifies a cluster formation (structure), currently a conceptual
entity (source), that is itemized in an asset portfolio, supported by the business organization??™s

SERVICE-ORIENTED PROFILING
The service profiling practice is about conveying the essence of the organization??™s business
and technical services to the management, development, and operations communities. While
pursuing the profiling process, practitioners are required to furnish facts about the interoperability

of the services and their ability to operate across platforms and operating systems. They are also
commissioned to inspect the services??™ dependency on peer services, partners, and consumers and
to explore their initial granularity levels.
One of the most important aspects of a service profile is the life cycle status that includes
information about the project timeline and activities history. Profiling difficulties may arise when
the service being evaluated does not have a sufficient track record. This can prevent one from
learning how this service contributed to resolving enterprise concerns. For example, conceptual
services are abstractions that have never been road-tested, and their future design and architecture
destiny has not been shaped.
