INTERSECTION ANALYSIS MOTIVATION. The intersection operation assists with the evaluation
of service groups, inspection of collective behaviors, and contributions to the overall solution.
Here, the focus is not on individual services and their unique capacities but rather on the collaborative
aspect of service clusters to tackle a strategic problem domain. The intersection analysis then
provides opportunities to discover new services by identifying common properties8 and facilitating
the detection of redundant functionalities across projects and even organizations. Moreover,
the shared cluster sections reveal mutual business and technology interests as well as reusability
prospects among the intersecting clusters.
INTERSECTION ANALYSIS PROCESS. The intersection analysis process requires the involvement
of two or more service clusters. How do services find their way into these groups? The simplest
method suggests associating services by business or technology context and grouping them by
shared attributes. Once these service groups have been prepared for analysis, the intersection
discovery activities can continue. The mechanism for identifying common services attributes
mandates superimposing two or more service clusters to form overlapping sections. This process
may be repeated until satisfactory results have been achieved.
