The service-oriented discovery and analysis model yields two major deliverables that will
be viable for the impending analysis proposition modeling effort (described in Chapter 8):
??? Service granularity metrics. Submit a granularity map of participating assets in a
project. Remember, there are two major types of metrics: those that are provided for
a particular project and are valuable for a specific initiative, and those in which service
evolutions are expressed over time (service metamorphosis). Either scale should
depict the service??™s granularity value and the functionality range it offers to business or
technology.
??? Service analysis assessment. Before embarking on a service-oriented analysis modeling
initiative (discussed in Chapter 8), furnish an analysis assessment that depicts the
collaborative efforts of both legacy and planned future services (conceptual services) to
provide a solution. This should include internal and external structural formations that
depict the aggregation or distribution of services and their functionalities, along with the
general remedy scheme that is being proposed. This deliverable should leverage the different
analysis operations that are introduced in this chapter: aggregation, decomposition,
unification, intersection, and subtraction.
SUMMARY
The participating service-oriented asset types in the analysis process are composite and atomic
services and service clusters.
