"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

Some outlooks would reveal business performance
and revenue generation; others would assist in understanding the customer base. Some would
elaborate on business strategy, and others would depict the organization??™s internal and external
management structures.
Therefore, business architecture is another type of organizational architecture. But it is a
dominant one. It is ???architecture about architectures,??? and it is the metadata that describes all
other architectures??™ attributes and styles. But as an architecture it must provide viable perspectives
to allow the integration of services and thus enable proper alignment between business and
technology initiatives.
The following three tenets are the driving aspects of the service-oriented business integration
effort:
1. Business architecture properties. Business strategy, business model, business processes,
business practices, business organizations, business units, and business products are all
architectural business properties of the enterprise. These architecture elements should
influence the service-oriented business integration initiative.
2. Business architecture perspectives. Services should be integrated with the various business
architecture perspectives of the organization. These business architecture views
represent the organization??™s business model components, business mission, and business
strategy. This alignment should target architectural interests that are vital to the business.
