"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

Our business architecture perspectives illustrate a different enterprise landscape. These perspectives
present organizations??™ strategies and goals and provide a clear direction that can mold
future architecture constructions. Perspectives provide contextual and structural boundaries for future
architecture projects. They simply explain what type of architectures must be built and provide a
rudimentary architectural vision that can be further developed into a concrete service-oriented architecture.
Thus, business architecture perspectives can be conceived of as service-oriented business
alignment mechanisms to facilitate effective business integration.
The four major contributions of business architecture perspectives to the service-oriented
architecture integration process are explained in the sections that follow.
PERSPECTIVES PROVIDE BUSINESS ALIGNMENT BENCHMARKS AND STANDARDS. How can
services be aligned with an organization??™s business direction? What are the business architecture
properties with which services can be aligned? Business architecture perspectives can be
thought of as windows that present various outlooks on organizational architectures. By looking
through these windows, one will find diverse software architecture formations that drive the enterprise.
Some are designed to ease client communications, and others to provide short-term tactical
solutions. Each of these business architecture viewpoints also depicts architecture requirements,
direction, and strategy and even contains details about business organizations and stakeholders in
these architectures.
