This document should include a general taxonomy of business architecture
perspectives along with their corresponding technical architectures. The proposed taxonomy should
include business model, strategy, and tactical contextual perspectives as described in this chapter.
The business architecture contextual perspectives analysis document should not only
include legacy technical architectures, but also regard architectural concepts as prospective future
technical implementations. This classification of enterprise architectures can be further leveraged
by a service-oriented business integration modeling effort, which is discussed in Chapter 11.
190 Ch. 9 Business Architecture Contextual Perspectives
SUMMARY
Contextual perspectives enable various business architecture views of organizational model, strategy,
and tactical operations. They are presented by two major groups: business model and
problem-solving business architecture perspectives. Each of these business execution branches
may also correspond to some enterprise technical architectures.
The business model view group represents six business architecture perspectives: core
products, client and customer segmentation, business mission, organizational culture, management,
and business process, each of which corresponds to technical architectures that enable their
business execution.
The problem-solving view group provides two major business architecture perspectives:
strategic and tactical implementations that respectively correspond to long-lasting and short-term
enabling technical architectures.
