Business Tier Management Structure. The business tier integration environment requires a
different management system. Imagine a commodity company that refines oil in South America,
produces corn oil in North America, and trades soybean products in Asia. What kind of
management strategy must such an organization adapt to enable a cohesive commerce approach?
Should the various business tiers take full control of their business execution, or should they
be strategically bound to the central company??™s governance? These questions obviously introduce
many challenges in today??™s global market economy. The business tier approach, however,
facilitates decoupling of business operations and management for the sake of better business
control.
Business Tier Structures Influence Technical Architectures. The business tier approach enables
the disbursement of domain groups across geographical boundaries, and in some circumstances,
beyond an enterprise??™s jurisdiction. Scattering business tiers and relinquishing some or total organizational
central control of operations is typically driven by business strategies and the business
