"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

A proper business strategy must first be in place to mitigate these integration risks and
challenges. Service-oriented business integration efforts must comply with these enterprise integration
policies and must be aligned with global market strategies and the overall business model
of such organizations.
Thus, the service-oriented business integration task must offer practical business integration
solutions that will later be maintained by enabling technologies. These can be regional data
hubs and SOA intermediaries that reduce the risk of impractical transatlantic business transactions
and guarantee delivery of messages. Remember, unrealistic business integration may affect IT??™s
ability to support the business. Exhibit 10.11 illustrates such a distributed environment, in which
three continents are a part of the transcontinental integration effort.
BUSINESS TIER DISTRIBUTION FORMATIONS
As we have learned thus far, distribution of a business entity is the act of scattering a business
operation, a product, a line of business, or an organization across geographic locations.
Obviously, this is an evolutionary process that occurs because of business expansion or other
conditions that are dictated by business models and strategies. So what should be distributed?
Tiers that either consist of a single or multiple domains are the only business structures that
can be disbursed. This strategic operation not only commends modifications to management control,
but also requires technological considerations to accommodate these distributed business
execution.
