INTEGRATION OPERATIONS NOTATION. There are six integration symbols that should be
employed to describe a service-oriented business integration initiative. These activities should be
depicted in an integration diagram, as illustrated in Exhibit 11.3. It is also imperative to identify
the steps and the various processes by which the final integration proposition was arrived at.
Thus, this diagram should both record the current or future state of service-oriented integration

Consider the following integration operation symbols, which can facilitate this documentation.
??? Integrated. This symbol identifies an integration activity that has been performed between
a service and a domain structure or between a service and a contextual perspective.
??? Disintegrated. Integration activities can also be reversed, meaning a service can be
removed from a domain environment because of strategic or tactical reasons.
