"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

??? A business domain is the only business asset that can be associated with one or more
contextual perspectives.
??? Atomic and composite services and service clusters are the only assets that can be integrated
with business domain structures or with contextual perspectives.
??? A business tier may contain one or more domains.
??? A business layered formation may contain two or more domains.

MODELING PROCESS
Now it is time to embark on a service-oriented business modeling process. The following cases
present various integration scenarios that involve structural and contextual business integration
aspects. The discussion begins with simple construction of business layers, continues with the
involvement of business tiers, and concludes with the contextual integration. These examples also
introduce interoperability solutions and address the distributability of business domains across
geographic locations.
MODELING DOMAIN LAYERS: A RUDIMENTARY LAYERED DOMAIN FORMATION. Consider
now the most rudimentary formation of the service-oriented business integration. How are domain
layers expressed in a service integration diagram? How is a layered business hierarchy formation
created? Remember, a layered integration environment is simply a stacked business domain
construction that must have a base domain that represents the most generalized element in the
