"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

Thus, all employed assets hitherto were regarded as units of analysis.
Now, in the design phase, all the proposed entities are treated as design services.
The proposed service notation system does not radically vary from the one employed in the
discovery and analysis phase. Here the same set of symbols is used that identify service structures:
atomic service, composite service, and service cluster . The only difference is in adding a dark
bullet to the design assets to differentiate them from analysis entities. In addition, in the design
phase, the need was recognized for a consumer to play a major role in the required artifacts.
Exhibit P.2 illustrates the four assets that are employed in the design phase.

CHAPTER 12
SERVICE-ORIENTED LOGICAL DESIGN
RELATIONSHIP
Service relationships with consumers and service peers are influenced chiefly by business and
technological requirements that shape collaboration and message exchange. This assertion is not
out of the ordinary, and most professionals would agree that enterprise objectives have a major
impact on service-oriented design practices and how service-oriented assets are affiliated in the
service ecosystem.
But to better understand the logical design aspects of service associations, it is necessary
to explore the business environments that services ought to be integrated with and to inspect their
internal and external structures.
