EXHIBIT 12.16 INTERMEDIARY TAGGING EXAMPLE
252 Ch. 12 Service-Oriented Logical Design Relationship
TAGGING INTERMEDIARIES. As previously stated, the act of intermediary tagging is simply
selecting and labeling intermediaries for our service-oriented design solution. The labeling activity
merely identifies an intermediary contribution to the service relationship scheme regardless of its
origin??”either it is an acquired product or an in-house grown service.
Exhibit 12.15 illustrates various tags that can be used to label an intermediary in a service
relationship diagram. Note that this list merely represents industry standard intermediary roles.
Practitioners can expand on this list to accommodate their particular service design environment
needs.
Let us now view an intermediary tagging example that is presented in Exhibit 12.16.
The business news consumer requests daily news (indirectly) from the intermediary market news
atomic service.
