"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

With silos, development,
deployment, and production operations are managed by different business and technological
groups that do not align their initiatives, do not coordinate their software development projects,
and maintain weak communications. They often develop comparable products, duplicate service
functionality, and diminish the reusability of organizational assets.
Service-Oriented Design Composition Styles 267
Major Benefits. The network design composition style can be used to gain the following logical
design advantages:
??? Alleviate business and technological interoperability challenges
??? Bridge lines of business and domains and overcome geographical barriers, enable simplification
of complex business distribution structures, ease management control over
federated and non-federated business domains
??? Increase asset reusability
??? Break down silo operations
Network Design Composition Style Example. Now consider the network design composition
style that is illustrated in Exhibit 13.10. This network employs network supporting beams to
link two business operations: accounting and employee benefits. The accounts payable atomic
service exchanges messages with its counterpart services??”payroll atomic service and employee
benefits service cluster. But it also participates in accounting transactions that are established
by the communications with the accounting operations consumer, accounts receivable atomic
service, and the general ledger composite service.
