"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

In conclusion, it is preferable to base transaction activities on the network
logical design composition style following a sound organizational strategy.
Exhibit 14.18 illustrates the many-to-many service association and also serves as a network
example. Note the various players and the multiple message originators in this transaction diagram.
Remember, transaction activities that take place in a network composition environment can involve
diverse service structures and can be orchestrated or choreographed.

Star Transaction. The star logical composition formation offers various transaction management
opportunities. The central entity, the most dominant service, is the only message originator of this
formation. This is analogous to the one-to-many relationship discussed previously. But here the
concept is different. Remember, the star logical composition extends arms made of subordinate
services. Thus, this structure makes it possible to evenly disperse messages, akin to multicasting
or broadcasting models in which messages are transmitted to the involved parties without the need
for acknowledgments or replies. The star formation may be used for other activity and service
collaboration purposes, such as propagation of messages to different lines of business or business
domains that need to share content or even filter out messages that are not useful to some of the
subordinating services.
