"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

This visual presentation can reveal general facts behind architectural strategies and elaborate on
various technological components driving the architecture.
Conceptual Architecture: Embodiment of Technological Concepts. The very top layer of the
conceptual architecture represents the various concepts that drive the technological environment.
In other words, an architectural concept constitutes a technological abstraction. This layer is
added to describe complex technologies and their activities in a simplified manner. In fact, this
generalization broadens the perspective of a technical implementation and presents its elements
as ideas rather than just physical entities. Therefore, this scheme enables one to conceptualize a
technological landscape in terms of its high-level functionality, its capacity to offer solutions, and
its ability to communicate a strategy. Concepts such as ???data aggregator,??? ???data transformer,???
and ???search engine??? are clearly examples of architectural concepts that articulate technological
themes designed to provide solutions to arising problems.
Exhibit 15.8 depicts an architectural concepts layer. The illustrated four data concepts
reveal the direction of the proposed architecture and detail the various architectural elements that
can provide aggregation solutions to an organizational concern. Note the adjacent association
between these architectural entities.
