"Service-Oriented Modeling (SOA): Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture"

28 CONCEPTUAL ARCHITECTURE DIAGRAM
338
Summary 339
??? Sports news hub (connecting machine). This concept embodies an underlying SOA
intermediary technological asset that intercepts and routes sports news information to
the subscribed consumer sports news station. The SOA enterprise service bus is another
packaged technological asset that deposits the news for future retrieval.
??? Sports news station (rendering machine). The sports news station architectural concept
depicts an underlying Web portal technology that provides customers with sports
news on demand. Note the technology stack that enables such operation. The three
layers??”application server, portal, and Web services??”collaboratively facilitate the rendering
of the broadcasted news shown on customer displays.
DELIVERABLES
The conceptual architecture diagram should capture an architecture proposal for future serviceoriented
development. It should include all the service-oriented software assets that collaboratively
provide a viable solution. The top-down approach for constructing a diagram is suited
for new requirements and new product construction. Architectural concepts are derived from
the logical design packaged solutions devised in the service-oriented design phase. The diagram
should be based on the bottom-up method if it is required to abstract architectural concepts from
an existing production environment.
